Problem Upgrade

I am using windows 2000 with sp2. I upgraded my motherbd and cpu form intel p 3 to AMD XP 1700. Now when system boots up system crashs to blue screen gets fatal error.. I had to reinstall my os and programs for it to work .. Is this common when youupgrade moterbd and cpu.. Thanks
