Problem Using usb flash drive though a pcmcia 2.0 usb card

I hope someone can help i have recently been given (new) a 4 port usb 2.0 pcmcia card. It works fine with my usb mouse and printer but when i insert my flash drive it does allow me to open it. I have a laptop with two 1.0 usb ports and my flash drive works there. the strange thing is that the laptop sees the drive as a mass storage device but does not give me any way of opening it. i can answer any more tech questions about my problem for “you” if it will help get the problem sorted thanks
