Problem with a mapped drive – Please help!

I have a drive mapped on a notebook. When the user tries to open it, it asks you to choose a program to use. If however you right click it and select open or browse, it works fine. It is a static mapping. I’ve had this issue before and I simply disconnected it and re-connected it.
