Problem with foreing characters in SQl

We have a group of ASP pages that are design to update an sql database. The fields are set to nvarchar, the pages are encoded in utf-8. the ASP creates a backup of every response in html. Here all japanese and korean characters show correctly butthe database does not update correctly.
