Problem with new Video Card

I was installing an Xtasy: Radeon 9200 (PCI) video card in a friends computer yesterday and ran into a problem. He is running Windows 2000 Pro and when I insert the card and plug the monitor into it. Everything goes great during boot until the end of the Windows 2000 loading screen and everything freezes.

If I leave the card in and attempt to boot with the monitor connected to the onboard video no image appears.

When I boot without the card in the machine and then insert it while in windows 2000 to attempt to recognize the hardware, the system freezes.

As far as I can tell the card should be compatible with the system hardware and OS.

What do you think should be the next step?
