Problem with PC recognizing HP Printer

When I connect my printer to the PC, it works fine but if any error occurs in between and I reconnect the printer, the computer doesn’t recognize it and I have to restart my computer. Then only it recognizes the printer.
What should I do so that the printer can be reconnected wothout restarting the computer?
