Problem with playing mp3 songs

A few of the songs(not all the songs) when played in any MP3 player start “running”..as if they are played with the fast forward option kept pressed.I need to adjust the pitch everytime I play these songs..I have come across this problem only on my PC..I haven’t faced such problem for the same songs on other PC’s. I have a Yamaha SoundCard on Windows 98. What I have observed is that the frequency and bit rate of these songs are different from the normal 44100KHZ and 96 kbps.
