Problem with Sharing printer under NT4.0

Currently have an HP LJ 6MP shared on an NT 4.0 Workstation that is a memeber of a domain. When ever you try to add the printer to another machine across the LAN, the other workstations attempt to put the printer on LPT1. With the printer set up like this, it manages to print test pages, but nothing else. The other print jobs go into the queue for an instant, then disapear into never never land. What could be the problem here?
