Problem with Windows XP

I have windows xp, home edition and I have a problem when I run KaZaA, a P2P program that is very nice, effective but screws up my computer. When I try to go into the part of the program that has the stats on what files you are sharing, the computer hangs up. Anyone, have an idea why. Please tell me if you do.. I have pulled out all my hair and am eyeing the cat.
