Problems with file sharing XP Home & XP Pro

by spam-trap . Updated 18 years, 8 months ago

Hello,

I have a laptop with XP home and a desktop with XP Pro. Both have SP2 installed. I have successfully setup simple file sharing between both computers. However, I am unable to transfer some files from the laptop (XP Home) to the desktop (XP Pro) when initiated from the desktop.

I am able to navigate all of the shared folders and see the files I want to transfer. However, when I try to copy the files over, I get an access denied error (or the drive is full/write protected) Since I am able to transfer other files, I know it’s not the full/write protect issue.

So far the only files exhibiting this behavior are *.exe and *.zip. However, I am able to transfer some *.exe and *.zip files but not all.

Finally, if I “push” the files from the laptop to the desktop all goes well.

Both logins have Admin access. I would appreciate any help in resolving this issue.

Thanks,
Jason
