processor question

I have an AMD turion 2 ghz processor in my machine. I am thinking of buying a turion X2 1.6 ghz processor. Is this really a better buy? the real problem is that I have a game that takes at least a 1.8 single core processor. Would the 1.6 dual core prcessor meet that requirement?
