program folder

why does a software application, after finishing loading and rebooting, bring up an error message looking for the folder C:\program. This folder does not exist. Canceling past this error has no harmful affect. If I create the folder C:\program I do not get an error message but this folder opens up each time you reboot. It can be closed or minimized but it is annoying. No one application appears to be responsible for this. How can I make it stop?
