Project Central SQL Server Connection

I have MS Project Central set up and it works fine if Central and SQL7/SP2 are on the same NT4/SP4 server. However, when I have a Central server seperate from a SQL server, MS Project .mpp files to Central cannot be uploaded (all other functions work). Both NT servers are standalone and not in the same domain. Any ideas to fix this?
