Proper W2K Move

I’ve built a new server to handle all file and print sharing. Is it possible just to copy over the shares and permissions and rename the server? Or is there some gremlin with the SID that makes this a bad idea, and I’ll be forced me to visit each workstation and point them to the new server for file sharing and printing?
