PS/2 Port not working w/digital camera

My camera uses a USB but the one on my laptop is broken so tried to use an adaptor so I could convert my PS/2 port to USB.When pluged in the camera turns on but nothing else.The camera, cord and adaptor all work on my desktop but not on the laptop.Also tried to use my 9pin serial port but camera wouldn’t even turn on.In hardware device mgr. all is OK. The camera works as an external drive,but in my computer there is no extra drive for me to open.How do I get it to reconize my camera as another drive? I appricate any advise.
