Raid

I have the Abit BD711-Raid M/B
I need to set up the Raid,I have 2 new Maxtor 40GB ATA 133-7500rpm hard drives,they are not formatted,just connected by cables to IDE 4&3 both set as master.To set up for Raid 0 what do I do FIRST. And do I leave theHD which has Windows XP in the PC.Manual states install HPT 37X raid-do I install on existing HD,or on new hD in raid.
Any help would do as a start.
