RAS clients dont get IP

by tbragsda . Updated 24 years ago

Had a perfect little dial-in and VPN server working on Win NT 4.0 sp6 with regular RAS. I needed a dial-out/dial?on-demand router for a connection to a private network (financial), so I thought, why not install RRAS and use it! Well RRAS messed upstuff pretty bad. I resolved my DOD problem with another router, and rebuilt the RAS server. The problem is now that the dial-in and VPN clients do not get IP.

Let me give some detail now.

On the internal network I run IPX and IP. I have a NT DHCP/WINS server. The old RAS server got leases from the DHCP server for dial-in and VPN clients.

Have tried using the DHCP, and a pool defined on the RAS server. Both fail to give addresses.

When the clients dial-in now, they get IPX, no IP. On the VPN this is not really an issue, as they are mostly accessing Netware IPX servers. The big problem is that the dial-in cant get to email without IP.

Went through some of the encryption problems from MS knowledgebase, and it could be the problem, but it is the same as it was before, and it was working correctly.

No events occur in the event log, except ?login OK? types. IE. The server thinks everything?s OK, and its not. (wish they would listen to me).

This is getting me insome hot water as it?s the Cxx set that are on the road and need their emails. So anyone with a fresh prospective on this, please lend a hand.

Other non-important details.
Win NT 4.0 sp6 RAS
Digi em8 w/6 USR modems.
10 port VPN
