Last week I installed patch Q318138 on several NT workstations per Microsoft’s recommendations.
Upon completion of the installation, I noticed that my IE 6.0 no longer worked.
I searched for hours and finally found an article #319331 that explained the problem-RAS was corrupted. I checked the event viewer and sure enough I was getting errors stating that
– Remote Access Connection Manager failed to
start because the Point to Point Protocol
failed to initialize.
-Point to Point Protocol engine was unable to
load the module.
I decided to take the following steps.
– I uninstalled the patch Q313138
– I uninstalled RAS
– I reinstalled RAS
– I reinstalled SP6A
Still can not get the RAS to load. Continue to get the same errors. My dilemna is that I use RAS for the Frame Relay as a backup for my remote users in PA and also for my traveling sales persons.
I need to get RAS working on my server and workstations and also need to be able to use IE6.0
Does anyone have any suggestions?
