I did try what you suggested: uninstalling DNS, deleting the DNS folder. I have reinstalled DNS without configuring it as a root server, just a forward Lookup Zone was created with SP3 installed.
The problem still remains the same.
What do you think can be causing this problem & what can be done to solve it, i.e; restore active directory services as it was first installed without the need of formatting and reinstalling windows.
