Re-setting WEP configuration

I had a wireless connection that used 128 WEP. Due to hardware failure of the access point I had to re-configure everything. In the process I turned off WEP and everytime I need to connect my XP Home notebook would not connect automatically, even when I set the configuration to do so.. I have de-installed the hardware and re-installed and still have this problem. Also noted that now I am up to wireless port 4.. now that is strange too…
