reading Vista filesystem on XP

by mmcdonald . Updated 18 years, 7 months ago

Vista uses an NTFS filesystem but I think it’s a slightly changed “transactional” version of it (TxF).
I have an XP computer and plugged in a hard drive froma a Vista machine. It saw it as a ‘healthy’ volume but it didn’t recognize that it was NTFS & I can’t read the files. When I plug the Vista drive into a Vista computer it reads it fine.
My question: Is this to be expected? Is there any way to read a Vista formatted drive on an XP computer?
