Reappearing Desktop Shortcuts

I have one particular user who has a link to a spreadsheet on his desktop. When the user opens the spreadsheet, does some work and then saves it, either NT or Excel places yet another shortcut on the desktop to this same file. The new shortcut has the exact same properies as the origianl shortcut. The user can delete this new shortcut and it reappears when he carries out the same routine without fail. Anyone got any ideas?
