Recommended Spam filtering programs

Could someone recommend a good spam filtering program? We don’t hold our email centrally, it is downloaded from our ISP whenever we send/receive. A lot of the programs I have looked at require Exchange – are there any that don’t? We have pop3 mailboxes.
