Recovering a Toshiba

I have a Toshiba Satellite 305cds that has crashed.

I ordered a new harddrive from a toshiba ASP.

I followed the directions that came with the Recovery CD/diskette but I can’t get the recovery disk to recover the software. It just loops in the “erase harddrive” mode.

Does anyone have a resolution to this problem?
