Recoving using d drive files

I have a HP Pavillion dv6000z which came preloaded with XP. I bought a copy of Vista Ultimate and did a clean install, but did not use the HP upgrade utility. I lost my copies of Windows Office 2003 and other software when I upgraded. Is there any way to reinstall XP from the recovery partition on the D: drive and start over?
