Red crosses under mapped drives

I have a problem on an nt 2 server network, when a user logs on ,the logon scipt runs and maps the appropriate drives, but then places red crosses under the drive icon and the directory is not accessable to the user.
The script appears to be ok, and if I log on as admin I can manually map to the same drives and have access.
