REGISTRY FILES

We are using a NT 4.0 server with the op system partitioned within 1.7gb hard drive space. Although nothing is being stored on this partition, except occassional temp files, disk space is slowly being eaten away at about 1meg every two to three days. I noticed an increase in REG files which vary in size (REG000542, REG000543, etc). Appear to be Registry files. What can I do to stop the accumulation of these files and is it safe to delete them? Running out of disk space…
