Remote Booting Windows 98SE

by tomsal . Updated 23 years, 6 months ago

I’m in a dire need of a solution for rebooting a Windows 98SE machine across the Internet. But to help you understand the problem I’ll explain more.

We have a Windows 98 PC that runs during the weekends, this computer is used by an “after hours” customer service rep who uses GotoMyPC to remotely connect to it, for the purpose of access a customer database.

What is happening though, is it works fine most of the time but it will lockup. The only way to fix this is shutdown the machine and re-boot it. But obviously this is a pain in the you-know-what having to come in to work on the weekend to reboot a computer.

I need a solution to do this remotely, I could of sworn there was a way to have Windows 98 automatically log you into the network too but its been a while and I can’t seem to find my notes on that. We need, whatever solution it is, to not only be able to reboot the computer but obviously it needs to log the computer into the LAN as well.

Any ideas?
