Remote Connections

Is there any way to monitor incoming remote connections to your box without haveing computer managment sessions open? I am wondering if there is anyway to alert you visually or by an sound other than keeping an extra box open. I am looking for something in 2000. I know i could do it zone alarm or something but i don’t want an personal firewall from inside an network.
