Remote Desktop Disconnected error msg

I have a XP Pro workstation and I receive an error msg: “Remote Desktop Disconnected” “The client could not connect to the remote computer” when trying to connect to it using Remote Desktop from other pc’s.
My XP workstation can connect to other XP machines (and 2000 Server) using RD. I have enabled RD in the Remote tab of System applet. It errors out before prompting for login information. I’m testing on a lan (no firewall issues). I have tried it both with and without VNC service running.Thanks in advance
