Remote Installation Services

by kjohnson2 . Updated 25 years, 6 months ago

We are in the process of rolling W2K out at my office onto approximately 450 client PCs and would like to be able to use RIS. The problem that I am faced with is that we are running NT 4.0 Server with no immediate plans to upgrade to W2K server (probably about 9 months out). My concern is that if I setup a W2K server in the Windows NT Server environment I am going to have problems later on. What I would like to be able to do is install a W2K Server with RIS installed in order to perform my upgrades on the client and then remove it when complete without ‘contaminating’ the NT environment or causing the clients to ‘freak’ when their W2K server is gone from the network. Can anyone provide any insight or suggestions on how I might accomplish this or if it is feasible?
