Removable SATA for Back-up

I’m interested in trying to use SATA in a hot swap removable cartridge for server Back-up instead of our old “onstream” 30 gig SCSI tape. Has anyone used this type of set-up? We use UltraBac for backup which supports Disk to disk backups. Comments/suggestions
