Removing a DC from active directory

When I try to DCPromo to remove a DC that is giving us fits(Problem Server), it wont complete the transaction. It gets to the point of restarting services and then I get a window that says the operation failed because the attempt to configure the machine account “problem server” on server “good server” failed.
