rings, answering an incoming connection

I have a problem establishing an incoming connection. I want to know where & how I control the number of rings after which to answer an incoming call request in windows2000 Professional.
In the Fax options the setting is available in the device properties, however there seems to be no trace of it in the incoming connection options. My system when being dialed into, shows the number of rings, however plays an extra ring when answering.
