Roaming profiles

I have bought a laptop which I use at work and at home. The laptop has Win2000 and the network is NT4. I find that the network will automatically download my profile to the laptop even though I have made changes at home and so my local profile is newer than the network profile. WIN NT always told me that my local profile was newer and asked which profile I wanted to use.
My question is – how can I stop the laptop from downloading my profile off the network at work when the local profile is newer.
