I have recently set up a Windows 2000 Server with two network interface cards. My intent is to use the first card to connect to my LAN and the second to connect to my WAN (DSL).
The cards themseves appear to be configured properly as I can browse the Internet from the W2K Server’s browser and also access my other computers on the internet from the same machine but I must be missing a step somewhere as none of the computers on the LAN can get to the Internet.
The WAN card is configured asfollows:
IP Address: 165.184.231.73
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.252
Default Gateway: 165.184.231.74 (I assume this is the IP that the DSL ‘modem’ is assigned)
Preferred DNS: 64.34.8.36
Alternate DNS: 216.227.0.68
The LAN card is configured as follows:
IP Address: 192.168.10.201
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 165.184.231.73
Preferred DNS: 64.34.8.36
Alternate DNS: 216.227.0.68
I followed the Setup Wizard for RRAS to configure the computer as a Router and acceptedall the defaults but there does not seem to be any IP routing passing from the LAN side to the WAN side – I figure that I am missing a step or two to accomplish this.
Can someone please help me with whatever I am missing here?
