Routing SBS and IP

by softwise . Updated 24 years, 10 months ago

Have taken on new site which has major problem with implementing multihomed routing. I have searched Techrepublic answers to this problem but the solutions suggested have either been misunderstood or n/a.
Our situation
1xNic : server and clientscan email and connect to i/net.
2xNic server can email and connect to i/net but clients cannot – familiar scenario I believe.
The multihome server set up: NIC1 internal has server IP address and 255 subnet no gateway,
NIC2 has Router IP as gateway, own address in same range as server, same subnet. IP forwarding on. IP Forwarding at proxy tried on and off.
Clients set with server internal IP as gateway and ISP IP address as DNS address, no fixed IP. Proxy set as I/net connection (Auto doesnot connect either).
Proxy is set with no security, open access etc to try to force connection.
Something is wrong – any suggestions to make this operate?
