Hi, I have a problem which I’ve received no help from M$ on. Maybe someone here has run into the same problem. I have a workstation with serious mental problems. Here’s the sequence of
problems I’ve experienced. It all strarted when I tried toupgrade the
memory from 32 meg to 160 mb by adding a 128 mb chip. I received the error
“Stop: 0x00000050 (oxff05b040,0x00000000,0x804a1d40,0x00000000)
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA Address 804a1090 base at 80400000,datestamp
38409b17 – NTOSKRNL.EXE” when win2k starts up. It goes on to mention to try
removing newly installed hardware and whatnot so I do. It works fine with
the original 32mb dimm. I tried 3 other chips with the same outcome. The
chips do work fine in other computers.So I proceed to install SP2 since
its running the base win2k. It doesn’t work because the printer spooler is
having problems. I track that down to the RPC service hanging in the
startup mode. My question is what would cause RPC to hang and howwould I
fix it. My last resort is to blow out the hard drive and reinstall win2k
but thats alot of work and if I can avoid it, that would be great. Any
ideas?
