Running CD-RW on Win2k?

by clyde . Updated 25 years, 6 months ago

I have been trying to get an HP CD-Writer 9100 + CD-RW to work with Windows 2000 for a while, and am ready to admit defeat and ask for help!!

I am running an AMD K6-2+ 500 with 224 MB, and Win2k with latest updates.

The drive came with the usual Adaptec software, and I updated the drive’s BIOS when I upgraded to Win2k. The Easy CD Creator claims that no CD burner exists and they (Adaptec) say there is no update without buying the latest version.
CDR-Win software can’t find a burner.
When I install Nero Burning ROM version 5.0 I get the following //very informative \\ error message:
SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers. VDD. Virtual Device Driver format in the registry is invalid. Choose ‘Close’ to terminate the application

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
