Running DOS Program on Windows 2000

I have a database program called storetrak we have been using for many years. It contains 10’s of thousands of entries in the database. This program runs great in the machine it is in but runs awfully slow when being accesed by one of its peer machines. Is there anyway to spped up the search feature? We have been searching for the last year for a company who has a program to work just like ours does now only in a windows version. FOr now however, I would just like to speed up the searches. All the machine have 256 ram and above 300 htz processors. All machine have windows 2000 installed.
