Running scheduled tasks on Win 98

I would like to find out if I can schedule a task to be executed on Win98 clients using the Task Scheduler in Win2000 Server. Does the Task Scheduler work with non-2000 OS?

Does anybody have a suggestion as to what utilities (apart from Win98 Scandisk) that I could use to check a hard disk for bad sectors etc? Can this utility be invoked remotely without user intervention?

I need to do a scandisk test for 187 PCs. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.
