Salvaging a Floppy-Based Program: Advice wanted

by thall9 . Updated 19 years, 4 months ago

Prob’ly everybody has some old program on floppies that they’d like to preserve. In my case its a (legally owned) script writing program that does all the fancy formatting you see in a screenplay. It was originally created back in the DOS/Win days and installs from several floppies…
This program still works fine, and no real improvements have been made in the interim; but with the disappearance of the floppy drive itself, I’m wondering about whether I could move it onto a CD or flash drive for the next time it needs to be installed. I have quite alot of files that are unique to this program as well.

I’ve seen articles about making bootable flash drives and all that, but…
what would be the most practical way to proceed? flash or CD? could this old program be made independent of the particular computer, or does the printout formatting prevent that?

thanks in advance!:]
