SATA hdd on ASUS mother board

Dear Sir / Madam
I have configured my PC as follows: ASUS Motherboard A8V-VM, Athlon 64x 3000+ processor, Samsung 250GBSATA hard disk. I am unable to install Linux (RedhatEnterprise version4, Fedora core1, Redhat 9).I got an error message Hard Drive not found.Please suggest any remedy.
