SATA Unrecognized

I bought and installed a Seagate 300GB SATA HDD to use for storage. I do not want to install XP on this drive as I don’t need to do a re-install – yet!

My problem is after I installed the drive, it is not recognized in the BIOS or in XP. Everything is seated correctly and drivers have been installed from the manufacturer’s CD.

Here’s my board and info:
ASROCK 775V88 Mobo (SATA supported and on-board)
American Megatrends BIOS, v1.40
Intel P4 2.66Ghz Processor
1GB Memory
2 HDD, one for storage, one primary drive

I have searched forever and a day to get the BIOS and/or XP to recognize this drive, but nothing yet.

Any help would be appreciated. If you need any other info, feel free to ask.
