Scanner problems

I received a Mustek scanner from one of my friends. I think the model number is 1200SP. It is pretty old. He said that I need a SCSI card to get it to work. Is there any way that I can get it to work without one if my friend is right?
Is there anywhere that I can find information about older Scanners and whatforth?
