Screen Resolution Settings

Windows XP has me baffled. After logging on the display settings revert to 640 x 480. When I reset to 800 x 600 and reboot same thing happens. I would like to keep the resolution settings.
What can I do? I have downloaded the latest driver for my Graphics card. nVIDIA Geoforce2 MX.
