script-error in internet explorer

when opening options in norton system works-antivirus, then there is a script-error/internet explorer. i cannot activate autoprotect or make any other changings. even new windows installation(over old one)-i had to solve the windows-setup-problem-did not help.
if i have to get rid of norton system works/firewall, how is the procedure to get rid of all? if there will be some elements left i cannot reinstall.
