Security permissions on a .reg file

by dennqur . Updated 24 years, 10 months ago

I used regedt32 to create a .reg file of the registry key for symantec under HKey_Local_Machine/Software/Symantec.

The only change I made to the key was to highlight the key and from the menu select Security/Permissions. I than added Everyone with special access. I exported the key, gave it a name (symnupd.reg) and tried it on another machine with the same configuration. When I looked at the key in the registry on the new machine, the security permissions had not been changed. I made thischange in order to allow a normal user to run liveupdate.

I am running Win2K on an NTFS partition. I can change the permissions manually by editing the registry on each machine, but I am trying to automate it since I have 1100 PCs to do. Can someone please tell me how to export the permissions on a key? thanks.
