Semi Dead Floppy Drive

by dnvrtechgrrl . Updated 22 years, 7 months ago

My boss brought me her pc a few weeks ago… her son had a hayday with Kazaa. The virus scan was wiped out and all the spyware you could imagine plus porn was on there.

Unfortunately, with the virus’ that were on there, the OS had to be wiped, the hdd wiped and a fresh install from ME to 2K put on.

Everything on this stupid computer is working fine but the Floppy drive. I’ve tried to get her to move to something a little more secure like a zip drive, or perhaps start relying more on her cd burner, but she’s determined to keep it.

The problem is when the pc boots, the floppy drive lights up and chirps like its connected. Once Windows boots though, no floppy drive.

I’ve checked cables, run the hardware manager, checked for conflicts…
I’ve never seen this before.

Any ideas on how to get it back in the system and recognized?

Thanks!!
Kai
