Approx. every week, usually on Mon. a.m., the server locks up. After restarting, it will run fine. Have not been able to determine what is causing the lock up. Tried restarting server Friday evenings but that doesn’t always prevent it from happening, it may not happen until later in the week when you can tell by the system slowing down. Checking the Task Manager, CPU usage, even after all users log out, is up to 90%. Something is running in the background and I have not been able to determine what it could be. Checked the Anti-virus, disabled PC Anywhere, backup scheduled for weeknights; I’m baffled.
Out network is small, one server with 12 workstations, running NT Workstation with MS Office. It has been suggested that I nuke the server and reinstall or even upgrade to 2000, but before I go through all that, has anyone had this problem and tried anything else that worked; or will a reinstall even fix this problem? Please help. Thanks.
